FUN FACT: i am currently typing this on a windows XP virtual machine!! IN 2024!!!!!
it's a real belief i have that we have the power in our hands to gain back a sense of wonder and fun and joy that adulthood has slowly siphoned out of our minds. new technology, new media, new cultural sensibilities, manufactured outrage, toxic algorithms, planned obsolecense.... ISN'T IT ALL TOO MUCH??? In this day and age, we need to take matters into our own hands. as kids it was handed to us, or otherwise easier to access. Now not so much. its up to US!
i have a lot of positive memories of windows XP as a small kid. it was my dad who first showed me around on his cutting-edge (at the time) desktop computer. he was already really proficient at technology anyway, working as a network engineer with college education about it under his belt as well. i still remember him showing me the command prompt and how fast he would input the command "ipconfig" and would say it in fast forward HAHA. anyway i was really young when i made my first ever website, all decked out in pink and surprisingly good grammar at age 7.
then it progressed into discovering vocaloid and anime kitties :-) (most credit to kay2036 and banithekitty!!!!) its no surprise why i would be drawn to them as a young autismo girl, and yes also because of the wayyy too gory and edgy bloody animations, even if it wouldnt be seen as gracefully today. i would then go on to try making my own animations just like theirs with my own characters, and so the rest is history. i still have love in my heart for animation and daydreaming about my own characters (whether OC or from my fave medias), thanks to the trailblazers of the mid-to-late 2000s!
